Project 1: Form and Function
The purpose for this project was to design a bridge that was not only altered from the original design of the bridge, but to make it practical, with a mechanism to allow the passing through of a 30' x 40' object, such as a boat, while also having a form of travel across the 190' body of water
Original Bridge Designs
The 3 bridges I chose to start my design process
Bridge: Sydney Harbour Bridge
Span: Arch Bridge
Location: Sydney, Australia

Bridge: Ross Island Bridge
Span: Cantilever Bridge
Location: Portland, Oregon

Bridge: Korabelny Fairway Bridge
Span: Cable Stay Bridge
Location: St. Petersburg, Russia

Household Mechanical Items
These 3 items are what I chose to use as my mechanism for my bridge design
Vice Grips

Ice Cream Scooper

5-Blade Tin Crimp

3x3 Prototype Table
With the 3 bridges that I drew into CAD, and the 3 items of my choosing, I created a 3x3 table, combining the bridge and item into some sort of movement prototype
